Welcome to South Florida!!! We have been very busy since the Conclave in St. Louis these past couple months. We just inducted our largest class ever into the Nu Sigma Chapter. We held the inductions at Vignito’s Italian Restaurant and swore in 37 new members. We had an amazing turnout from our seniors as well, and we recognized each one for their time and dedication over the past 4 years.

After the ceremony, the awards that we won from the Conclave were presented to the chapter. Everyone’s hard work went into achieving the awards for Regional and National Chapter Excellence, but the praise went to the two previous Executive boards of Nu Sigma. Jared Slovan and Heidi Mason led the last two boards and their leadership really shined during their tenure.

Another big moment for our chapter was the elections for the Executive Board 2007-2008. The new board is as follows:

Social Chairs – Ankur Agrawal and Ali Jadali
Rush Chairs – Dan Fenton, Marian Iskander, Nicole Berger

We are excited about the upcoming year, and look forward to setting and reaching a lot of goals this year.

In the midst of the changing of the guard here at Nu Sigma, we are sorry to announce we are losing two important faculty members this summer. Dr. Richard Masella started our beloved chapter in 1998 and truly was the first member. Since then, he has taken a behind the scenes leadership role, and stays involved giving ‘lunch and learns’ and a helpful hand. Dr. Wendy Hupp, who was our deputy councilor, has joined the Oral Med Department in Louisville. We are going to miss her guidance and enthusiasm very much. The Psi O chapter in Louisville is very lucky to have Dr. Hupp leading the way for them. In her absence, we have asked our very own Dr. Harry Lehrer to try and fill the shoes Dr. Hupp has left, and we are positive about the job he will do. Dr. Lehrer is one of the most well-liked professors in the dental school, and we are happy to have him as our new deputy councilor.

As we look forward to the fall, we have a month long rush planned, including beach parties, and trip to the rodeo and a camping trip. Hope all is well in Psi Omega Land, till next time. Keep Flossin’!
