From the Central Office
...From Kathleen, Tom, and Jimmy

We, at the Central Office, would like to give a big congratulations to all of our recent graduates. We hope your future will be filled with much success. We look forward to having you as alumni members of Psi Omega.

Our conclave meeting was held with various chapters of Psi Omega in St Louis, Missouri, on March 29th and 30th. It was a nice event, enjoyed by all. Of course, we want to, again, thank Dr. John Hatton, Province #2 Councilor, for arranging the meeting space at St Louis Lmversity, arranging transportation to and from the hotel, as well as the catered lunch and dinner. It was a tremendous help to us and his time and energy spent on this is much appreciated.

Speaking of Dr. Hatton, he and Dr. Edward Taggart were re-e1ected for another term as Province Councilors. In error, ballots were sent out for re-election of Dr. JIIll Butler. our current National President and Province #5 Councilor. But..if it is of any consolation to you Dt: Butler, you were unanimously voted for again! We enjoy working with all of our Province Coundlors and appreciate their efforts in supporting Psi Omega in the capacity they do. We realize this takes their time, something that is very valuable.

Dr. Kays, Dr. Rivers, and Dr. Butler will be present at the ADA meeting to represent Psi Omega. There will be a hospitality suite open for visitors on Friday and Saturday, Oc1ober 24th and 25th. Please, if you are in San Francisco, stop by and visit.

Once again, as a reminder, we are here to help in any way we can, so please do not hesitate to call on us!

Your Central Office Staff. . .

Marcia Hoover Kenward
1925 - 2003

Marcia Hoover Kenward passed away peacefully Saturday night, July 26, at the age of 77, after a long and valiant battle with ovarian cancer. Born July
28, 1925, she was a resident of Miami for 51 years. A native of Kentland, Indiana, she attended Indiana University, graduating magna cum laude in 1947 with a major in journalism. During her college years she was elected to a number of honorary societies, including Phi Beta Kappa, Alpha Lambda Delta, Theta Sigma Phi (journalism) and Mortar Board. She was a member of the student council, associate editor of the campus newspaper and vice president of her senior class. She was vice president and scholarship chairman of Chi Omega social sorority.

In 1948, she married Franklin Monroe Kenward, who survives, and the couple resided in Gary, Indiana, while he completed his degree in dentistry at Loyola University, Chicago. During this time, Marcia worked for The Gary Post Tribune as assistant woman's news editor, fashion editor and religious news editor.

The Kenwards moved to Miami in 1952 and two years later built a home in Pinecrest. Their two sons grew up there and the older, Dr. Scott F. Kenward, has a dental practice in Pinecrest and also lives in the area with his wife, Dr. Debra Kenward and their two children, Andrew and Catherine Ann. Christopher F. Kenward is an attorney and businessman in Redwood City, California. Other survivors include a brother, Robert T. Hoover (Anne) of Indianapolis, Indiana, nephew Dr. Michael Schatzlein of Fort Wayne, Indiana, and a niece, Melinda MacAnally, of Indianapolis.

Marcia became active in community affairs, serving as president of the Parent-Teacher Associations of both Pinecrest Elementary and Palmetto Middle Schools. She was an elder in Pinecrest Presbyterian Church and edited the church newsletter for several years. She also was a member of the Guild of the Museum of Science, of Women in Communications, the Chi Omega Alumna Association and the Miami Dental Auxiliary. She belonged to Riviera Country Club and Beach Colony Club.

For fifteen years she edited the Frater, the national magazine of Psi Omega Dental Fraternity. She accompanied her husband on his professional business trips throughout the world and wrote many accounts of their extensive travels. But most of all she loved being a wife, mother and grandmother and the special times spent with her family.

Marcia suggested that contributions be made to the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund, Inc. One Pennsylvania Plaza, Suite 4800, New York, NY 10019.
