Psi As we close out this year and send off the newly graduated D4’s, the members of Psi Omega Psi Chapter get ready to begin a new year. The recruitment we have had has steadily increased each year with this year marking our biggest enrollment in 10+ years. Changes continue to happen at our school with the addition of a new dean as well as many structural improvements taking place throughout the school. Our house has also undergone multiple changes, which have made it a favorite place to tailgate before, during, and after Buckeye football games. House manager Ryan Higgins continues to make improvements with our recently remodeled front yard by keeping up with the yard work and landscaping the entire front yard. The enthusiasm of the individuals who live in the house continue to make our house a popular place to live. We currently have a 4 person waiting list for rooms in our 19 person house for the incoming school year of 2009-2010. The dental class of 2012 showed how much the previous members valued the fraternity. About 1/3rd of the class of 2012 decided to join the fraternity and with the new class of 2013 getting ready to begin, we hope to continue the trend of increasing our membership. Our annual “Tacky Christmas Sweater Party” was a hit once again as we filled our favorite watering hole, the Bier Stube. Many great memories are recorded each and every time we get together which is another reason why our fraternity is growing so rapidly. All members are looking forward to another great football season marked with wins, brats, burgers, and good tailgating fun. President Kevin
Priest (’10), and Vice President Greg Snevel (’11) are looking
forward to incorporating more fundraisers from various dental companies
to enhance the social aspect of Psi Omega. New social chairs John Heffernan
(’12) and Brandon Kroffke (’12) have great ideas and have
shown a lot of excitement towards the fraternity. Our rush chairs continue
to work hard in working with the administration so that the word about
Psi Omega can be spread as quickly as possible. Aside from increasing
membership and social activities, we have also been involved with our
community. Community chairs are currently planning our annual trip to
the Ronald McDonald House as well as finding new ways to help less fortunate
people around the city of Columbus. It’s nice to know that good
times and fun activities are always being planned which help us balance
and manage these challenging years of dental school. The friendships
we have made will continue to grow as we embark on our professional
career. |
