As the school year comes to a close, Zeta members at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine can look back at the past semester and reflect on many great events we held and the strides we took in strengthening our chapter. It was a very successful year for us, starting off with over thirty new members that we inducted in the fall. New members bring new ideas, including a highlighter party held at the Psi O house in April! Everyone wore white t-shirts and let out their artistic side underneath the black lights.

We held a chapter-wide fund-raiser by designing Psi O t-shirts, and it has been a huge success so far by selling them to our current members and to alumni who now teach at the dental school.

The Psi O house has been the locale for frequent bbq’s now that the weather has been getting nicer in Philadelphia. We have the grill going at least once a week, and it has been a popular place for members to get together. Our latest toy, Rock Band, has also brought out musical talents that many of us didn’t know we had! We recently held a CPR certification at the house for second years as they get ready to enter
clinic in July.

With the closing of another year, we sadly had to say good-bye to our wonderful senior
members. We will miss them all and wish them success in their post-graduation endeavors and in their professional careers. Congratulations seniors!

We held officer elections for the 2008-2009 school year. On behalf of the entire chapter, we want to thank our old officers for their great efforts and the tremendous changes that we have had in our chapter through their leadership. We are excited about our new officers and look forward to working with them. Congratulations to James Parelli (President), Meghan Stenvall (VP), Mary Um (treasurer), Markus Hill and Dylan Bordonaro (fund-raising chairs), Rob Peterman and Justin Messina (academic chairs), Keren Levine, Omar Souman and Chris Chafin (social chairs), and Lucas Mantilla and Justin Messina (rush chairs). We are confident that we have some amazing officers and are looking forward to implementing some of the great ideas that we’ve already come up with.

The Zeta chapter can look back at an event filled and successful school year, and it has been one of the most fruitful in our chapter’s history. We thank Dr. Arthur Steinberg, our wonderful faculty advisor, for all of his help and guidance. Have a great summer, and best of luck to you all in the fall!
