As present or future members of the dental profession, you are/will be in a position respected and envied by many. In this profession, you have every expectation of being successful. Please keep in mind that your position doesn’t come without additional responsibilities. Everyone has responsibilities to their family. As an individual at one of the top levels of society, I believe that your responsibilities extend beyond your family.

This is one reason that I am proud that Psi Omega Fraternity supports community service by honoring those chapters from each Province for giving back to the community. The Founder’s Award for Community Service recognizes a chapter in each Province that has demonstrated exemplary activity in their philanthropic endeavors. The National Founder’s Award recognizes the best of the best – the Province Chapter that has performed the most charitable service for their community. As a member of the National Council, we nominate and vote on those Chapters for the Founder’s Award. I am proud to say, from the smallest to largest chapters, all Psi Omega chapters participate in community activity.

For those of you student members reading this, I hope that your participation in Psi Omega supported community service will help you appreciate the responsibilities of your future career. As for our Alumni members, I hope that these types of experiences were just a small part of your overall development as a true professional.

As a dentist, you need to support, with both time and money, your community, religious organization and those schools and universities who all have been a part of your development. I am proud that Psi Omega recognizes this as part of our mission.
