As my term of office as National President of Psi Omega Fraternity ends, I want to reflect on our accomplishments and successes of the past year. Professional fraternal organizations are still alive and well, despite the rising cost of dental schools. Psi Omega Fraternity still ranks among the best of them. Most of our chapters are active and growing. At our last national conclave, I was very impressed by the large number of activities for community service performed by our members. Chapters around the country are volunteering to provide dental care to the under-served, raising money for charitable causes, such as the tsunami victims, and working to help
clean up and beautify their neighborhoods.

Of course, a major function of dental fraternities is social. Busy dental students need a time away from studies and the fraternity provides just the right atmosphere to enjoy each other and party. However, the professional fraternity also serves a supportive and academic role, allowing members to share their knowledge, discuss things they are learning in class and clinic, and gain additional knowledge from alumni and faculty members. These functions are ongoing, and, in most cases, extremely successful

I am proud to be associated with Psi Omega Dental Fraternity for the past thirty-seven years, as dental student, faculty member, deputy councilor,
and national president. My plan is to continue as Councilor for Province One, hopefully continuing to help our Fraternity grow and thrive. Thank you for allowing me the honor of serving as your president and I wish you all well in the future.
