Delta Psi Chapter
The Baylor College of Dentistry

Rush - Organization
Every year, the D1 class gets its chance to rush a fraternity. It always happens the week after Spring Break. Rush events start on Wednesday of that week and quietly end on Friday. This year, it occurred from Wednesday, March 28 through Friday, March 30th. Each of the three dental fraternities has one day of activities with a tri-frat event on the last day to bring everyone together. A day of rush consists of breakfast, lunch and dinner provided by the fraternity of the day normally accompanied by a casual presentation and information session during lunch. The main event for each day occurs during the evening following dinner. Each fraternity picks a theme for their day. Rush t-shirts for active fraternity members are worn throughout the week to let the D1 Students know of their involvement and support for their individual fraternity. The subsequent week, preference sheets are filled out by the rushees. The Interfraternity Council meets with the faculty advisor, Dr. Gary Coleman for Psi Omega, to review the sheets. Fraternity selections and notifications of acceptance are then made. Every student who rushes will receive a membership in one of the three fraternities.

Meetings & Social Events
Meetings and Social Event Dates are scheduled with the Director of Student Affairs on the Official Event Calendar so that no two organizations are meeting on the same day. The Social Chairs plan one meeting a month on the approved dates. Our meetings come to order at a number of the social venues in downtown Dallas. But most often they commence at our school's favorite watering hole, the Elbow Room, walking distance from The Baylor College of Dentistry.

Educational Presentations

The only educational presentations we offer thus far is a presentation about Psi Omega and our Chapter at The Baylor College of Dentistry. This presentation is given during lunch on our Rush Day each year during the week following Spring Break. We are open to ideas and suggestions!

Volunteer & Community Service Activities

  • Habitat For Humanity
  • The 1st Annual Smile Walk - This was an excellent event to raise money for a charity which offers solutions to underserved children with cleft palettes. Walkers were sponsored to walk 5K around White Rock Lake. Psi Omega raised the most money out of the three fraternities.
